Trust isn’t about seeing the picture—it’s about trusting the One who designed it.
The Song Jireh by Elevation Worship and Maverick City Music powerfully speaks to God's provision, love, and care. The word יִרְאֶה Yir’eh means "God will see to it" or "God will provide." This place name first appears in Genesis 22:1-9, where God instructs Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac, the son of promise.
Why would God promise Abraham a son, only to ask Abraham for his sacrifice? Trusting God means believing in His providence even when the path forward is unclear or seems impossible. Abraham’s faith in God’s plan teaches us that fidelity to Him sometimes requires surrendering the very thing He gave us and trusting He will fulfill His promises regardless of circumstances.
At the story’s climax, God provides a ram in Isaac’s place, and Abraham names the place יְהֹוָ֖ה יֵרָאֶֽה YHWH Yeira'eh meaning "The LORD will be seen" or "The LORD will appear/provide." Abraham trusted God fully, believing that if necessary, God could even raise Isaac from the dead (Hebrews 11:19) to fulfil His promise of nations coming from Abraham’s loins (Genesis 12:2-3; 17:4-6; 18:18). Abraham’s unwavering faith reveals that trusting God isn't about having all the answers—it’s about knowing He does.
He gives and He takes away
This phrase from the Book of Job encapsulates God’s sovereignty over all things. In Job 1:20-21NIV, after devastating loss, Job:
20 … got up and tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground in worship
21 and said: “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised.”
Despite his suffering, Job chooses to worship. His faith reminds us that trust means reverence for God’s ultimate control, even in the darkest times.
God’s Grace in Weakness
I am captivated that God's power is perfected in our weakness. The idea that God's power is made perfect in our weakness is a central theme in the Bible. It reminds us that we don't have to rely solely on our own strength because God's grace is sufficient for us.
As Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 12:9 NIV:
But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.
This verse is part of a passage where the Apostle Paul speaks about his "thorn in the flesh" and how he pleaded with God to take it away. Instead, God reminded Paul that His grace is enough, and that His power is demonstrated most vividly when we acknowledge our own limitations and rely on Him. Paul embraced his limitations, recognizing that relying on God’s strength allows His power to shine through. This humbling truth inspires us to trust Him fully, acknowledging that His grace is always enough.
The Song Jireh
The first time I heard the song Jireh, its lyrics deeply ministered to me, especially this verse:
If He dresses the lilies with beauty and splendor
How much more will He clothe you? (2x)
If He watched over every sparrow
How much more does He love you? (2x)
The refrain “How much more?” became my personal anthem. It reminded me that the God who clothes lilies in splendor and cares for sparrows will surely provide for me. Matthew 6:26-30 reinforces this truth: "Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap... yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?"
This song echoes the assurance that God’s provision is limitless, and His love for us is beyond measure.
Trusting God’s Plan
I am analytical, a problem solver, a Performance Consultant and certified Project Manager. My job was to solve problems, close performance gaps, and devise solutions that would positively impact the bottom line. So when challenges arose in my personal life, it was natural for me to pause, analyze the situation, identify the gaps, and create solutions to address them. It was also natural for me to invite God to sit at my table or ask for an invitation to His boardroom so we could discuss the issues and work out a solution together. After all, collaboration is key in any professional setting.
But let me be honest—this is not how God operates. I quickly learned that God doesn’t conform to our terms or processes.
Isaiah 55:8-9 reminds us:
8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. 9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Trusting God means surrendering our need for control. Proverbs 3:5-6 captures this beautifully:
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
In other words, we don’t help God figure things out. Trusting Him means placing all of our confidence in His wisdom, even when we don’t fully understand His methods or see the entire picture. It involves relinquishing control and recognizing that His plans are not only different from ours but are also higher, better, and infinitely wiser.
By submitting to God, we're allowing Him to guide us and align our paths with His will, which leads to outcomes far beyond what we could have envisioned ourselves.
How Do We Trust God?
Acknowledge God’s Supremacy: Recognize that God is not like humanity. His actions, thoughts, and plans are beyond human comprehension. We don’t see the full scope of what He sees or understand the reasons behind His movements.
Understand God's Timing: God is not an 11th-hour God; He is a God of appointed times. This means that what may seem like a delay to us is, in fact, His perfect timing.
Release Control: Trusting God means letting go of our need to see the blueprints, the solution design document, or the business plan. It’s about walking by faith, not by sight, and resting in the assurance of His grace.
Lean Into Grace: God invites us to walk in the valley of grace, knowing His grace is sufficient for us. This requires us to stop striving in our own strength and instead rest in the truth that His provision, love, and timing are more than enough.
Trusting God is an act of faith and surrender. It’s a journey that challenges our desire for control but rewards us with peace that surpasses understanding. By submitting to His will, we align our paths with His, leading to outcomes far greater than anything we could have imagined.
Living in Grace
Trusting God leads us to a life of peace and success. In Joshua 1:8, God tells Joshua:
Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.(NIV)
This passage is a powerful reminder of the importance of staying connected to God's word and wisdom. God instructing Joshua to continually meditate on His laws and commandments comes with a promise of success and prosperity, which is tied to a deep and consistent engagement with God's word. It's about allowing His principles to guide every aspect of life and leadership.
This practice of meditation helps anchor faith, provides wisdom, and ensures alignment with God's will. It's a timeless principle that underscores the value of spiritual discipline and reflection.
Music That Inspires
What makes Jireh inspirational isn't just its beautiful melody but its alignment with scripture. It reminds us of God's provision, love, and presence. Scriptures like Philippians 4:19, Romans 8:38-39, and Deuteronomy 31:6 affirm the song's themes, offering a foundation for trust and contentment in God.
Let us be reminded: God’s grace is sufficient. His plans are perfect. And He will see to it.

Jireh Lyrics
I'll never be more loved than I am right now
Wasn't holding You up
So there's nothing I can do to let You down
It doesn't take a trophy to make You proud
I'll never be more loved than I am right now, oh
Going through a storm but I won't go down
I hear Your voice
Carried in the rhythm of the wind to call me out
You would cross an ocean so I wouldn't drown
You've never been closer than You are right now
(Let's sing it loud y'all)
You are Jireh, You are enough
Jireh, You are enough
And I will be content in every circumstance
You are Jireh, You are enough
Forever enough
Always enough
More than enough
—repeat
I don't wanna forget how I feel right now
On the mountaintop
I can see so clear what it's all about
So stay by my side when the sun goes down
Don't wanna forget how I feel right now (Jireh)
Jireh, You are enough
Jireh, You are enough (so I will be)
I will be content in every circumstance
Jireh, You are enough (He is always enough)
He's forever enough
Always enough
Always more than enough
He is, He is
Forever enough
Always enough (He's everything, He's always)
More than enough (yeah)
I'm already loved
I'm already chosen
I know who I am
I know what You've spoken
I'm already loved
More than I could imagine
And that is enough, oh-oh
I'm already loved (I'm already loved)
I'm already chosen (I'm already chosen)
I know who I am (I know who I am)
I know what You've spoken (I know what You've spoken)
I'm already loved (I'm already loved)
More than I could imagine (more than I could imagine)
That is enough (that is enough)
It's enough for me, oh
I'm already loved (I'm already loved)
I'm already chosen (I'm already chosen)
I know who I am (I know who I am)
I know, I know what You've spoken (I know what You've spoken)
I'm already loved (I'm already loved)
More than I could even fathom (more than I could imagine)
And that is enough (and that is enough)
Yes it is, it's enough, it's enough
And that is enough (that is enough)
What His truth says is better than anything
That is enough (that is enough)
What He's declared over us, it's true
That is enough (that is enough) 2x
That is enough (that is enough)
Jehovah, You are (that is enough)
El Shaddai, You are (that is enough)
When I have You, I have everything (that is enough)
When I have Jesus, I have everything (that is enough)
That is enough (that is enough)
'Cause You are enough (You are enough)
You're my portion (You are enough) 2x
More than enough for me (You are enough)
Say, You are enough (You are enough)
So I am enough (so I am enough)
You are enough (You are enough)
So I am enough (so I am enough)
Say, Jireh
Jireh, You are enough (Jireh)
Jireh, You are enough (yes Your are)
I will be content in every circumstance
Jireh, You are enough, oh-ooh (You are)
If He dresses the lilies with beauty and splendor
How much more will He clothe you? 2x
If He watched over every sparrow
How much more does He love you? 2x
If He dresses the lilies with beauty and splendor
How much more will He clothe you? 2x
If He watched over every sparrow
How much more does He love you? 2x
If He dresses the lilies with beauty and splendor
How much more will He clothe you? 2x
If He watched over every sparrow (don't you worry!)
How much more does He love you? (Our Father loves you)
How much more does He love you? (How much more?)
How much more does He love you? (How much more?) 4x
How much more does He love you?
It's more than you ask, think or imagine
According to His power working in us
It's more than enough
It's more than you ask, think or imagine, oh yeah
According to His power working in us
It's more than enough (let's go y'all)
It's more than you ask, think or imagine (so according)
According to His power, it's working in us (how much more does He love you?)
It's more than enough (how much more? Sing!)
More than you ask, think or imagine (so according)
According to His power working in us (how much more does He love you?)
It's more than enough (one more time, sing!)
More than you ask, think or imagine
According to His power working in us (how much more does He love you?)
It's more than enough (how much more?) 2x
More than you know (more than enough)
It's more than enough (more than you know)
More than you know (more)
Jireh, You are enough
Jireh, You are enough (You've always been enough)
And I will be content in every circumstance
Jireh, You are enough
And I will be content (yes) in every circumstance
Jireh, You are enough
